Alastair Nelson
Managing Director
Alastair offers his services as a strategic and values-driven conservation leader with 30 years’ experience living and working across ten countries in the Horn of Africa, East and southern Africa. He has a proven ability to build teams, consensus and partnerships to tackle critical issues in remote sites and countries that can be challenging to work in. He initiated and led projects and programs, raised funds, negotiated agreements, developed strategic partnerships, for both Protected Area and national level conservation programs. He has supported policy development, organisational capacity building, and establishing advocacy and advisory groups.
Adam Armstrong
Head of Criminology, Social and Behavioural Science
After a number of years working in human development, Adam now leverages his deep social science expertise to support conservation projects. He draws broadly from social science disciplines, such as behavioural economics, anthropology, sociology and psychology to create practical, effective programs for addressing complex social problems. Adam completed a Masters in Criminology in 2011 and has gained experience in research, program development and implementation.
He has spent 13 years doing work on crime and safety in both policy and intervention roles, and has been involved in over 1000 interviews and has over 2 years of experience conducting in-depth ethnographic research. He has written policy government, published academic and news articles. He has also volunteered in prisons, worked with refugees and at-risk youth and run workshops for job-seekers. He is passionate about using solid research to develop novel solutions to complex social problems.
Alison Blair
Operations Support Manager
Alison Blair holds 25 years’ experience in various business sectors, including the position of Marketing Executive for one of SA’s largest independent pharmacy groups. Her expertise entails directing and driving strategic objectives through the development and implementation of key management, marketing, and communication strategies; establishing and maintaining relationships with key partners and managing annual budgets. Alison’s various entrepreneurial endeavours has given her an appreciation of what it takes to establish functional management operation systems for accountability, which allow the team to focus on delivery. Having grown up in the Lowveld, Alison was fortunate to have spent time in the bush, particularly in the northern Sabi Sands and the Kruger National Park, this developed a love and appreciation for wildlife and nature conservation and fulfilling her sense of purpose.

Working with WWF-Khetha to understand the dynamics of corruption inthe GLTFCA & to develop approaches to build resilience to corruption & improve conservation impact.
Technical advice to a regional 6-project USAID counter-wildlife crime program, on specific issues (by drawing on a network of experts) eg: corruption, community-engagement, investigations & prosecutions, behaviour change, gender approaches, building partnerships for sustainability
Supporting & facilitating meetings for a sub-regional four-country government platform that comes together to share information intelligence, strategies & knowledge on wildlife crime (with GIZ support)
